We had our work holiday party this weekend. Our director had his roof decked out with lights and tables and bar. Everyone brought food as well as a gift for the white elephant gift exchange. I think everyone was fearful of the potential for disaster- mixing a joke of a game like 'white elephant gift exchange' with several different nationalities of teachers. But in the end, it was a blast! Everyone had a lot of fun. I stole myself a big, smelly candle. 
Em was a little less fortunate, bringing home a pink and white floral table cloth. (Brought as a serious gift? A gag? Nobody knows...)The night ended with a dance party, shut down by the fear of the cops coming. (It seems that all music must be finished at 11 pm here.) In the end, it was great to reconnect with colleagues, enjoying each others' company before we all part for the long break.
