Four in the afternoon, and it seemed the party was over! We clarified. No, it wasn't the 'wedding party'- it was the 'signing of the wedding contract'! The bride was there- not dressed in white. The groom was in Saudi, waiting to file the paperwork for her to join him. The papers were all signed without him there. Perfectly legal. And just for fun, it seemed they had a female relative dress up in a suit as his 'proxy'.
We snuck out after a while, as the party really had ended. We were allowed to leave on the condition that we would return later for the dance party. (Not hard to hear the music from next door!)
And so we did.
